    Just wrote the question on a different video... So 13 sentinels... Is it very reliant on controls (the combat part)? I'm just ffw my way through this to see if it's my cup of tea, quite a few people recommended it, but it just doesn't look like my thing and the Switch-pricing feels a bit much. The only actual "game" part is the battle sequences? It's like a slightly more interactive VN? Currently checking out an auction of UO. Seems a BIT more like my thing.

      It’s complicated. Older definitions of the transgender umbrella include crossdressers and nonbinary folks, but definitions change over time. There’s still confusion as to which one is which?

    This is one of my favorite videos I've watched in awhile. Your gaming journey is so relatable. I'm 34 and discovering strategy RPGs and Resident Evil 4 remake shook up my gaming fatigue and I've been squeezing in gaming time all over the place. Having a pregnant wife, full time job, building a business, and training for a marathon ya gotta be strategic with your time but it's all possible in one day. Steam deck has helped a ton! 😅

    I'm only 36, so not quite 40 yet, but I still game. I have social and vocational obligations that keep me from gaming all the time. I also, of course, have other things that I like to do. However, I don't have a spouse or kids, so that definitely gives me more time to play. Of course, I'd rather have a family, even if it means gaming a lot less. One thing different about gaming now compared to gaming as a kid is that, when I was a kid, I was good at extending the playtime of various games I played through *pretend.* Here's an example of what I mean by that. When I played Ocarina of Time as a kid, I went through a period where I would turn on the game just to pretend that I'm a resident of the world. I'd pretend Link was a resident of Lon Lon Ranch who would ride his horse around during the day and guard the entrance at night. For some reason, I could do this a lot with games. As an adult, even though game worlds are far more realistic, convincing, and immersive than they were back in the N64 days, I'm not really able to do this. I played Cyberpunk 2077 and I could never turn it on just to roleplay that I'm a real resident of the world. I only ever played the game to actually do the missions, level up the stats, get the items, reach the next story beat, etc. So, there's an imagination or ability to immerse myself that I seem to lack nowadays that I had as a kid. I kinda miss that.

    2 is incredibly overhated. Its story is definitely an improvement over the first, and its leveling system is misunderstood, leading to exploitation that actually harms the experience.

    If you are living well, video games should come down in priority. I have found it to be a good thing because you grt to graduate from Consumer to Connoisseur. You already know what are the cash grabs, time wasters and empty remake. In your 40s you arnt going to waste time on that free to play multi player game with gotcha mechanics, you get to focus on titles from the past and present that are genuinly worth time, even the backlog should shrink to only 10 games as you wont have the same tolerance for nonsense.

    FFVII I feel gets a bit overrated, although it's still probably my second favorite overall. If you don't grind super hard or fight the optional endgame bosses the game is relatively short & easy, which is quite a disappointment. This often gets overlooked, I think because the story is darker and more complex than all the others. I'm hoping the remakes changed that (haven't played them yet).

    This is indeed one of the greatest video game trailers ever made. It hits you right in the feels. I can remember buying my Super Nintendo in 1993 to play Secret of Mana and 30 years later that remains my favorite game of all time. The trailer makes the best use of nostalgia and Visions of Mana will be a day one purchase for me.

    I'm 41. Been gaming almost my entire life. Being an introvert with heavy self confidence and inadequacy issues, I never connected with anyone to form a family of sorts. I have a decent amount of free time to spend on my passions, like gaming. I've found that my passion for gaming is as strong as it was, but my desire for long gaming sessions no longer manifests like it did in my 20s. I'll take 6-8 weeks to beat a 90 hour RPG. Mewnwhile, they keep releasing games that I want to play, but aren't in the right mindset for at the time. What I did was shift my perspective. I buy the games that I want to see further development from, with the intent on playing them in the future. I doubt I'll ever quit gaming. I certainly don't think in terms of clearing my backlog, either. I had FF7 Rebirth going strong until Dragon's Dogma 2 came out, which I played through and beat. Then I got the urge to play Fallout New Vegas on my PC, so I completed that one. Meanwhile, I play FFV on Switch before bed.

    My favorite Enix games were all on the Super Nintendo - Robotrek, E.V.O. Age of Eden, Soulblazer, Ilusion of Gaia, emulated Terranigma(as they didn't localize it in the NA region), and emualted Dragon Quest V and VI(because the SNES Dragon Warriors were the ones which never got localized.) (Okay, I also played Star Ocean Second Story and enjoyed it even though it was hard as nails.) My favorite PS1 Square game was Final Fantasy VII bar none but I loved some of their obscure titles as well. As for PS1 Enix games, it has to be Dragon Warrior VII, the last Dragon Warrior game under that title before Enix merged with Square.

    Im 48 and I never stopped gaming. The only difference is the amount of time I have left to game when all the important shit like work, yard work, and stuff around the house is done. Then I like spending time with my family. If you spend more time holding a game controller than you do your wife, you will be having problems later. If you have a child you can NEVER let them think that playing this game is more important to you than he/she is. It’s a balancing act like everything else in life.

    Brave Fencer is fun but it's definitely a little clunky at times. This was before analog was fully adopted. It's definitely a fun play and quite charming as well. But anyone who has played the game will know that Steamwood is the worst part of it by a longshot and you have to do it twice. That's where you'll really feel the controls and the fact that it's timed only makes the frustration worse. I'm surprised we didnt see Dragon Quest on here. Did you just wanna focus on the Square side? Or do you not like DQ7? I've only played the 3DS version for a bit, so maybe the original PS1 version isn't worth mentioning.

    • @FelixS.
      @FelixS. 3 дні тому

      Love the N64 Paper Mario. Loved Origami King. Own the GCN version of TTYD and now on Switch. Played it on Switch the first time. Never played something that overrated, imo it is boring beyond believe.

    • @ryarock2
      @ryarock2 3 дні тому

      Yeah, with you. I think, outside of XP, Origami King is better than TTYD in every way. More interesting battles. Better pacing. Better writing. Better world and dungeons and exploration. I finished TTYD out of desire to see what the fuss was about, but didn’t care for it. Slow, pointless dialog. So much terrible backtracking. The third chapter almost broke me, with hearing the same dialogue and doing the same thing 22 times in a row.

    • @ramsesjfg7668
      @ramsesjfg7668 3 дні тому

      @@ryarock2 I also played it for the first time on Switch. Although the repetitive nature of Chapter 3 didn't bother me, that was really only because I was invested in the story and all the great jokes that were thrown in-between. However, I can see it being a big issue when it comes to replayability, which also applies to the overall backtracking in the game. Many of TTYD's strong points rely on its unpredictable nature and great writing, so it kind of hurts the game when that shock factor is taken out of the equation. As far as the battle system and the OST, both are awesome. So, now that I can finally make up my mind about this game, I'll say that it's reaaaally good, and deserved the remake... but those that put it on a pedestal are definitely blinded by nostalgia to a degree. The world layout is plain and boring, and most of the game becomes quite dull when you're no longer playing it blind. I dismissed TTYD for the longest time, but I always thought "I'm sure it's good, but there's no way it's better than Paper Mario 64". It took a long time to find out, but I was right. Paper Mario 64 is still the king. But to leave on a positive note, TTYD is still a must-play. I can't remember the last time I laughed this much and this often while playing a videogame. I was definitely missing out.
